Why is running on the playground more tiring than running on the treadmill?

When running on the playground, we will involve a lot of turning movements. We will also be affected by the external weather and suffer more resistance. It is difficult to maintain a uniform speed during running, so we will be more tired. Running on the treadmill, we just need to set a fixed time to move forward at a constant speed, and there is no need to turn and so on.

Influencing factors considered:

1.Shock absorption:

On the playground, it is generally a rubber track, which is far less comfortable than the treadmill. Some playgrounds are even directly cement. At first, it doesn’t feel much worse. After 3 kilometers, it gets more and more tired. Now many treadmills have rich functions and good shock absorption effect. They can also climb slopes for exercise. In order not to become a clothes hanger, they have made a lot of changes.

2.Entertainment:

Secondly, when I run on the treadmill at home, I like to put an iPad and run while watching movies. Although it takes a little time to shake my eyes, I pass the time really quickly. Compared with on the playground, I can easily persist for more than an hour and a half.

3.Environment:

Outdoor will be affected by temperature, sun exposure, wind resistance and other environmental factors. When it is cool and windy, most people can persist longer and faster, but the high-temperature sun exposure, especially the sun at more than 7 a.m. in summer, is a little unbearable.

Other minor factors include the pace. Non senior fitness enthusiasts can’t reach a good rhythm because they avoid pedestrians and road obstacles. The speed of the treadmill can be adjusted to their most comfortable pace, so as to run longer and farther.
