What is the difference between a commercial treadmill and a home treadmill?

The difference between a commercial treadmill and a home treadmill has troubled many treadmill buyers. Whether it is an investor in a fitness place or an ordinary fitness enthusiast, there is still relatively little awareness of treadmills. So what’s the difference between a commercial treadmill and a home treadmill?

1. Different quality requirements

Commercial treadmills require high durability, excellent quality and strength. The requirements for quality and durability of the home treadmill version are not as high as those of the commercial treadmill.

2. Different structure

Commercial treadmills have many components, complex structures, well-chosen materials, and thick materials. Durable, firm and stable, stronger function, higher configuration, high manufacturing cost.

Compared to commercial treadmills, the quality of home treadmill has a simple structure, light and thin materials, small size, unique shape, most of them can be folded and stored, easy to move, and low in manufacturing cost.

3. Motor

Commercial treadmills use AC motors, which have higher motor power and higher noise. The continuous power of commercial treadmills is at least 2HP, and generally can reach 3 or 4HP. Some manufacturers will mark the peak power of the motor on the motor label. Usually, the peak power of the motor is twice the continuous power.

Home treadmills generally use DC motors, which have lower motor power and lower noise. The continuous power of the motor of the home treadmill is usually 1-2HP, of course, there are also some lower-level treadmills with a continuous power of less than 1HP.

The continuous power of the motor indicates the amount of power that the motor can output stably when the treadmill works continuously. That is to say, the greater the continuous horsepower of the treadmill, the longer the treadmill continues to work, and the greater the weight that can be driven.

4. Function configuration

Commercial treadmills have a maximum speed of at least 20km/h. The incline range is 0-15%, some treadmills can reach 25% incline, and some treadmills have negative inclines.

The maximum speed of home treadmills varies widely, but is usually within 20km/h. The incline is not as good as the commercial ones, and some treadmills don’t even have an incline.

5. Different usage scenarios

Commercial treadmills are suitable for commercial gyms, fitness clubs and studios, hotel clubs, enterprises and institutions, medical rehabilitation centers, sports and educational institutions, commercial real estate and other places, and can meet the long-term use of a large number of people. Commercial treadmills need to run for at least ten hours a day for a long time. If they are not of excellent quality and durability, they will often fail under such intensity, and they will even need to be replaced soon.

The home treadmill is suitable for families and can meet the long-term use of individuals and family members.

The use time of the home treadmill is not continuous, it does not need to run for a long time, the service life is long, and the performance requirements are not high.

6. Different size

The running area of commercial treadmills is more than 150*50cm, which those below this size can only be classified as home treadmill or light commercial treadmill.

Commercial treadmills are large in size, heavy in weight, can withstand large weights, and have a calm appearance.

Home treadmill is fashionable and compact, light in weight, small in weight, and relatively simple in overall structure.
